What is group coaching for expats?

I love the Netherlands, and I moved here for a reason - as did anyone that moved here. But starting life in a new country isn't always easy. It can be hard to find proper friends, learn a new language, find safety and security, raise kids in different culture than you were raised in, find work you love... I know that you know. And as much fun, happiness and growth comes from this type of challenge, it can feel a lonely, confusing or unrooted at times.

After 3 years of coaching many international clients, from those just finding their footings to those who have been here 10+ years, I've deeply listened to and worked on these themes over and over again.

This is why I wanted to create this group coaching programme so that you can connect with other people going through similar things - in a structured, safe, and guided way.

Coffee, tea and mini stroopwaffles are provided, but this is not just a coffee chat. It is time and space to work things through together, and learn from the experiences, learnings and perspectives of other people like you.

What will we do and talk about?

Over 6 weeks, we will discuss themes like belonging, identity, friendships + love, homesickness, guilt, family. Each group is different, and so the sessions will be shaped around the people and their needs each time. I will make sure that there is space for everyone to share and suggest themes that feel relevant and close to them.

I will guide and facilitate the sessions so that the group gets the most out of it and everyone leaves with a learning or something to think about.

There might be live exercises in the sessions, or tools and exercises that I set you in between.

Importantly, this will be a confidential group. I require that everyone taking part respects and agrees that any information, stories, and names shared in the group is confidential and will not be shared outside of it. This is so that we can create safety and trust between us, and to allow people to speak and express themselves freely.

About your coach, Hannah Ray:

Hi - I'm Hannah Ray, a Therapeutic Life Coach based in Amsterdam, and fellow expat from the UK.

I am trained and qualified under the ICF and Chester University, and have been running my own coaching practice, TAKE Coaching Amsterdam, for the past 3 years. I am also a 400-hr advanced yoga therapist, and worked as a strategist in advertising for 10+ years.
