Join Sidewalk Science Center for our 5th annual hosting of NASA's International Observe the Moon Night. While NASA's official date is mid-September, the chance of clouds in Florida on the date is still high, so we have elected to push our event to the First Quarter Moon in October.
In 2023, more than 600 visitors attended our 4th Annual IOtMN at Bayfront Park in Sarasota. Our goal for 2024 is to see 750 visitors pass through. With activities, telescopes, and astronomy galore, International Observe the Moon Night is the place to be October 12th!
SSC will have 10 telescopes available for free views of the Moon and other objects. Visitors are welcome to bring their own telescopes as well. We can help you set up your telescope; however, due to expected crowds, our astronomers will not have time to train you on site if you are not familiar with how to use a telescope. If you would like to learn how to use your scope, please hire us for a Telescope Training session on our website: www.sidewalksciencecenter.org/book-online.
