Since the dawn of cultural identity communities have used drumming as a way to help them connect, to feel better and to have fun! Science has since validated this with evidence based scientific study. Have you considered the proven benefits of drum circle? Community drum circle and music making is shown to decrease stress, raise immunities and create an overall sense of well-being.
Join Drumming Sounds in combination with ABCD Medicare in this community enriching event! No musical background necessary, this will be a fully facilitated event.
Have some questions? What is a drum circle? What will this consist of?
Drum circle is not a music class and we are not music teachers but what we are doing, coming together to create music with community has been done all over the world for thousands of years. In Cuba they call this a Rumba, in Puerto Rico, Bomba. In Egypt, Hafla. In Hawaii, Luau. And often when Native Americans come together with drumming, singing and dancing they call it Powwow. There is one thing that is the same about all of these cultural representations and it's not the drums, the songs. the regalia or the food. all of those are different, but what is the same is the heart space the community creates.
This will be a guided experience, in sum, we will go over some techniques on the drum and then get into some music making and song. The program will conclude with a guided meditation accompanied by Andrew Ecker, Drumming Sounds on the Native American flute and Monica Patton, Drumming Sounds on the gong, the Tibetan singing bowl and the chimes. A sure way to relax and calm our minds before heading off to the next part of our day.
This program is geared for and aimed at being for our 55 plus community. Please RSVP, space is limited, No musical background necessary. Drums will be provided but you are welcome to bring your own if you have one. Covid precautions honored, it is important to us that each participant feel safe and comfortable. There is no charge for this event thanks to our generous sponsor that has such a heart for community, ABCD Medicare.
