Admission is free and the concert is open to all! About halfway through the evening of music a free will offering will be taken up.
Following the concert, all are invited a dinner in the OLC Activity Center (Shrine Cafeteria) sponsored by the Rosary Altar Society. Dinner consists of chicken noodle soup, mashed potatoes, green beans, dinner roll, drink, and dessert. The cost is $12 for adults and $6 for children 12 and under. All proceeds benefit OLC School.
The Carey Ecumenical Choir was founded in 1971 as a collaboration between John Raymaley, Ronald Croy, James Roynon, and Brother Paul Faroh, OFM Conv. The choir has held a Christmas concert each year since, with the exception being in 1984 when no director could be secured. There was also a three year hiatus from 2020-2022 due to COVID and no director of music at Our Lady of Consolation. In 1988 and 2025, the choir also performed a spring concert in celebration of special events at the basilica. In past years, the group has been featured on WBGU and Channel 13 as well as a taped Christmas Mass for the Diocese of Toledo. Membership is open to all singers high school age and older. Over its history, the choir has had membership range from 45 to over 130.
