It is our honor to invite you to a very special, rare, and important concert at Strathmore Concert Hall in Bethesda, MD on April 19, 2024.
It is the Naval Academy's 50th Anniversary of presenting our Spring Oratorio (major choral-orchestral work), and to mark the occasion, we will be performing Benjamin Britten's WAR REQUIEM - at one of the nation's premiere concert halls.
THE CONCERT IS FREE AND OPEN TO THE PUBLIC!
* One of the most significant compositions of the 20th Century.
* Written about devastation during WWII.
* A very timely topic.
* Sacred "requiem" text interwoven with poetry of a WWI soldier Killed in Action.
* One of the most difficult works in the choral/orchestral repertoire.
* We are approaching the 80th anniversary of D-Day (this June).
* WWII Veterans will be speaking about the war pre-concert.
Over 350 civilian and military musicians from across the branches of the Armed Forces - along with Grammy-Award winning soloists perform this poignant, timely, and monumental masterpiece.
U.S. Naval Academy Glee Club, Baltimore Choral Arts Society, Peabody Children's Chorus, U.S. Naval Academy Band, U.S. Air Force Academy Band, Band Members from Various Fleet Bands Annapolis Symphony String Section Grammy-Award Winning Soloists.
