50th Anniversary Garden Party – Celebrating the Present (12:00 – 18:00)

A day of reunion, exploration , discussion & celebration! 

Come share food, stories and hear from many of the people who have been involved with the Centre for the past 50 years.

This day aims to offer an opportunity to meet at the Salisbury Centre and :

• Celebrate the 50th years of this special building and community
• Find out about or take part in current Salisbury Centre community events & offerings
• Find out where the Centre is at today, including what is working well and what remains work-in-progress

The day retains a level of spaciousness trusting that some people might be somehow inspired to offer something on the day (e.g. some stories about the centre, showcase some art made recently and long time ago)

TIME

The Open Day will start from 12:00 (till about 18:00)

Before then there are some extra events that can be attended as an addition (See below)

Loose schedule & offerings for the day  

In the spirit of finding enough balance between structure and flow, and enable enough spaciousness for what wants to emerge and weave to do so, the day will assume a relatively relaxed format.

Yet community facilitators and Salisbury Centre community members in general are invited to join the day and see if there is any possibility to share stories, tasters, offerings and discuss ideas.

Some Lunch will be provided, cooked by some Salisbury Centre volunteers and key community members, yet please Bring any top up snacks, soft drinks, cheeses, side dishes, contributions, etc to add to the mix

There are also some events planned throughout the day including:

• 9:45 - 11:00  - Breath-work Ceremony to Clear the Old (With Anne-Marie) -    (Studio **) - ()
• 11:00- 12:00 -  Sufi meditations & Spiritual Practices to facilitate peace  (With Fathea) -  (Art Room) - for more info
• 11:15 - 12:30 - Somatic Movement Practice "Water-Continuity" theme (With Monica) -  (In the Studio **) BOOKING REQUIRED ( Booking link coming soon)
• 14:00  - 15:30 -   (With Helen Kennedy) (Library & Garden)

** The Studio is currently  Not wheelchair accessible

• 16:30 - 18:00 -Traditional Ceilidh & Creativity Sharing Party (Location TBC) - This is not a dancing Cheilid, rather a  creativity sharing space to celebrate the past and rekindle new and old connections. Expect games to meet each other, bring along some tales to take us down Memory Lane, share songs, poems or showcase any creative output that was birthed at the Salisbury Centre over the years far and near.  

(NOTE : The above Ceilidh was meant to happen in the evening but is now happening in the afternoon as part of the Garden Party  (16:30 - 18:00 )

Other happenings that are brewing and will  likely find their place & flow during the day  include:

• a Living Library (in the Library)  - An open free flow space, chats & capturing memories from past residents who lived at the centre since 1973, inviting reflecting upon visions, dreams and the challenges that were faced over time
• "The  Salisbury Centre today"  -  Hear from the current Salisbury Staff, Volunteer and Trustees about the Salisbury Centre as of 2023, its working, success & ongoing challenges.
• Garden Tour & Harvesting stories (in the Garden) - An exploration of what is currently growing, and recent new features of the magical Salisbury Centre garden. Expect a wee garden tour and history talk with Alan, the current Centre gardener, as well as bring stories to share. Come add your piece to the Jig Saw of memories this sanctuary has been made of.
• Salisbury Centre  Seed library  - Stall & Activities 

Throughout the day you might also expect:

• Salisbury Centre Film - ongoing screening
• Viewing the 50th Anniversary historic exhibition  
• the emergence for spontaneous offerings/stories/workshops by some of the present attendees
