This training provides an overview and exploration of meditation as presented in yoga and various yogic practices including Raja Yoga, Tantra Yoga, Hatha Yoga, Bhakti Yoga, Karma (Kriya) Yoga and Jnana Yoga. A deepening of meditation will be experienced through mantra, japa mantra, and sound, which have been an important aspect of yoga practice since Vedic times. Yogic meditation explores the state of unity or oneness that one seeks when one follows the yogic path towards liberation or union with the Divine.
You’ll also learn about the Yoga of Sound, a deepening of meditation through vibration. This will include practice with mantra, japa, voicework, environmental and instrument sound, and deep listening - all of which have been important in yogic practice since ancient times. Intentional sound is a powerful meditation tool and this training offers an introduction to how to use both live and recorded sound in your mindfulness practice.
This training also provides a rare look into the most common pitfalls that a lack of mindfulness of the voice can cause in the yoga and meditation classroom. Your voice it the conduit through which you teach; this training will show you how to speak more authentically, speak in a safer way, and make your voice ultimately listenable.

THIS MODULE CAN BE TAKEN IN STUDIO OR VIRTUALLY ON ZOOM. IN STUDIO SPOTS ARE LIMITED SO PLEASE CONTACT US TO LET US KNOW WHICH OPTION YOU PREFER.

TEACHERS

Tiffany Sparrow, BMT, MTA
Tiffany Sparrow is an accredited music therapist, singer-songwriter, kirtan artist and yogi. She currently specializes in music therapy at bedside in medical settings, weaving the power of music with breath, movement and meditation to facilitate pain reduction, emotional balance, relaxation and wellness. Sparrow studied yoga and mantra in India, obtaining her 500hr yoga teaching certificate in Akhanda Yoga through Yogrishi Vishvketu as well as recording two mantra/kirtan albums with local traditional musicians. She has traveled extensively around the world and brings her awareness of global music and holistic spiritual and health practices to her work as a clinician and educator.

Allison Smith
Allison Smith is an internationally-known voice talent, who specializes in voicing telephone systems and AI platforms.
She is also a life-long yoga practitioner, and has an endless fascination with human speech: how we say what we say.
It became clear to her — through her years of practicing yoga — that very little emphasis is put on yoga teacher’s training on the *quality* of the voice, and that few things can disrupt an otherwise strong yoga teaching paradigm as repetitive, bad speech habits, upspeak, vocal fry, or an artificial “sweetening” or “raising” of the vocal register — even unconsciously adopting a “character” as you enter the studio to teach. In the Finding Your Voice workshop, Allison provides a rare look into the most common pitfalls that a lack of mindfulness of the voice can cause in the yoga classroom. Yoga is not necessarily a visual medium; it’s your voice which guides your students through their practice. It’s the conduit through which you teach; the Finding Your Voice workshop will show you how to speak more authentically, speak in a safer way, and make your voice ultimately listenable.
Your students will be more engaged; your voice will experience less strain; and your yoga teaching will be enhanced and forever expanded.
George McFaul
George started breathing at an early age and has had the good fortune to continue almost daily ever since. He is happy to be in the moment, teaching or practicing the pleasurable art of noticing life in all these bodies. A full time professional teacher since 1995, George is registered with the Yoga Alliance as an E-RYT (500), is fully certified in iRest® Yoga Nidra, has an honours degree in Religious Studies with a focus on Eastern religions and a graduate diploma in Mental Health and Addictions. In spite of this, he has resisted taking responsibility for any particular school of belief or thought. George has had the immense pleasure of learning from and teaching with the inimitable Donna Farhi and has also been largely influenced by Dr. Richard Miller and his contemporary evolution of Yoga Nidra. Laughter, love, and surprise are guaranteed.
