In this training, students will learn the foundations required to teach a yoga class using the aerial silk as a prop, including: balancing, strength, conditioning, flexibility and inversion asanas and sequencing. Students will also learn how to incorporate more intermediate asanas, transitions and inversions.We will break down the core foundations and principles of aerial yoga including how to structure a class, transitioning in and out of the core asanas, how to offer modifications, as well as how to spot and offer assistance to your students. Each student will also be given time to practice teach a class to their peers during training.
You will learn:
· Various benefits and contraindications for aerial yoga practice
· How to cue poses and transitions safely and clearly
· Modifications as well as progressions for students of varying levels
· How to identify and adjust common aerial misalignments to ensure students' safety
· To lead centering at beginning of class and savasana at the end
· To create aerial yoga sequencing, including asanas and transitions, that flow seamlessly
· How to teach intermediate asanas, with variations and modifications
· How to add sequencing to build up to peak poses
· Safe assists / adjustments for intermediate postures
Pre-Requisites: No pre-requisites required; however, we strongly recommended that students have taken aerial yoga classes to have a basic understanding of how to navigate the aerial hammock. If you are new to aerial yoga, we strongly suggest that you first attend classes with us for at least 30-days so you are familiar with the practice. Both students and teachers are open to attend this training. Whether you enroll to deepen your own practice or you want to learn to teach, this training program is for everyone.
Post Training Requirements for Certification (Teachers Only)*:
· Submit final exam
· Film yourself teaching all core inversions and provide feedback
· Prepare and submit a full 60-minute written class plan
· Film yourself teaching a full class and provide feedback
Recordings will be submitted and a facilitator will provide feedback. Upon obtaining certification, opportunities to gain teaching experience through our apprenticeship programs and community class offerings will be made to devoted graduates who have met all our requirements and are ready to teach to the public.

*Pre-reqs are that student has at least their 200-hr YTT or other comparable training / certification (e.g., Pilates, Physical Therapy, etc.). Students must be accepted into the certification portion of this program.
