For the next 4th Friday Contra for Experienced Dancers on Friday February 27 we are delighted to welcome caller Qwill Duval with the band Here on the Hill.Qwill has been touring nationally for the last three years — primarily along the East Coast, but also bringing their dynamic calling to the Midwest and the West Coast. They bring an upbeat, playful energy to every dance, making the experience both welcoming and exciting.
Here on the Hill, a Boston-based contra and folk band features Tory Horner on fiddle, and Rose Powell on guitar. The band creates a bold, groove-centered sound rooted in New England tradition and alive with old-time tunes, modern gems, and original compositions. Since forming in the fall of 2024, Here On The Hill has quickly become a familiar presence on dance floors and in living rooms across the East Coast, bringing infectious energy and musical connection to communities from Georgia to Maine.
Both band and caller will be making their debuts for our series and we hope you can join us to welcome them!

While all are welcome at the Friday Experienced Dancers' Contra Series, here is a guide to what "Experienced Dancer" means, as the programming is geared for that level:
You know how to do a roll away, hey for four, California twirl, contra corners, pass through to a wave, box circulate, mad robin, and basic moves without teaching.
You know where to be at the start of each dance phrase and assist your partner and neighbor to the next move.
You execute flourishes safely and on time without disturbing others.
Your dancing supports and enhances the experience of all through shared weight, good timing and respectful connections.
You know how to recover from a lapse and you respond to confusion and missteps, by yourself and others, with grace, encouragement and good humor.
Look forward to seeing you there!
