Give Blood. Give Love. Give Back. Join us for a powerful community event dedicated to Sickle Cell Disease awareness, featuring insights from medical experts, local organizations, and families affected by SCD. Whether you're looking for the perfect Valentine's gift at our handmade art and bake sale or saving a life at the on-site Red Cross Blood Drive, there is a place for everyone to make a difference. After you donate, stay for a delicious Soul Food dinner by Big Boys Eatery--plates are $12, or completely free as a thank-you for your blood donation! Grab an event t-shirt for $15 and know that every dollar raised directly benefits the American Red Cross of Greater Rochester.
If you are new to the SWW community, this event is a special tribute to the lives of Paul and Solomon Harris. They were the sons of Pastor Vernal Harris and Narseary Harris—our former Home School Liaison, better known to us as "Mama Narseary." Both SOTA graduates, Paul and Solomon tragically lost their lives to sickle cell disease at the ages of 26 and 33. We gather not only to remember them but to raise vital awareness and research funds for the disease.
The Red Cross will be running an on-site blood drive in the Library from 1:00 to 7:00 PM. You can make an appointment ahead of time or just walk in. In addition to a dinner voucher, all donors will receive a $20 e-gift card. All proceeds will benefit the American Red Cross of Greater Rochester in honor of Paul and Solomon.
