4th Annual Asian American Pacific Islander (AAPI) Education Symposium
About this Event
The Commission on Women, Children, Seniors, Equity & Opportunity (CWCSEO) is excited to be joined by the CT Chapter of the Asian Pacific American Coalition (APAC) and the University of Connecticut's Asian and Asian American Studies Institute (AAASI) to host the 4th Annual AAPI Education Symposium!
This year's symposium places students, educators, and community member perspectives at the center of an important dialogue about what inclusive education looks like, and what it takes to build it. Through panel discussions, presentations, and open dialogue, attendees will hear directly from those with the most at stake in shaping Connecticut's educational landscape.
Topics will include:
- Youth violence prevention — exploring youth-driven approaches to safety and violence prevention
- Multilingual learner experiences and updates — elevating the voices of students navigating education in multiple languages and highlighting policy developments affecting their access and success
- Student data — examining how AAPI student data is collected, categorized, and used to inform decisions, and where critical gaps remain
Whether you are an educator, advocate, policymaker, student, or community member, this symposium is your opportunity to learn, connect, and contribute to the work of building an education system that works for everyone.
Dinner will be provided.
