48 Hour Mural Project: Pittsburgh Hosted at the former Leslie Park Pool, a beloved neighborhood landmark slated for demolition, the project offers a unique opportunity for artists and residents to celebrate the pool’s history while leaving a lasting visual tribute to the Lawrenceville neighborhood.
The event is a program of National Mural awards and organized locally by Most Wanted Fine Art, in collaboration with BOOM Concepts, the Bloomfield-Garfield Corporation, and Lawrenceville United.
Lead sponsorship is provided by ABARTA Coca-Cola Beverages.
The mural project officially kicks off at 6 p.m. Friday, Sept. 26. During the kickoff, the five invited artists will each receive their assigned mural sections and creative prompts, including required elements that highlight neighborhood identity, sponsor recognition, and a shared creative character and prop linked to the 48 Hour Film Project, which is collaborating partner this year. Artists then have 48 hours to complete their murals.
The public community unveiling and mural deadline occurs by 7:30 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 28 providing neighbors and visitors the chance to see the completed works firsthand.
Following the mural weekend, the project will celebrate artists and filmmakers alike with an awards ceremony and film screening at 7 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 30 at Rangos Giant Cinema in the Carnegie Science Center as part of The Pittsburgh 48 Hour Film Project.
