46th Detroit Jazz Festival 2025Overview: The world's largest free jazz festival returns to Detroit over Labor Day weekend, featuring four days of world-class performances across multiple venues in downtown Detroit. This iconic celebration of Detroit's rich jazz heritage showcases internationally renowned artists, emerging talent, and educational programming across Hart Plaza, Cadillac Square, and Wayne State University's Jazz Center.
Highlights: Celebrating over 40 years of musical excellence, the festival features 2025 Artist-In-Residence Jason Moran in multiple collaborative performances, including special collaborations with Jeff Mills and Jessica Care Moore, plus tributes to Duke Ellington. Notable headliners include Hiromi's Sonicwonder, Branford Marsalis Quartet, Maria Schneider Orchestra, John Scofield Quartet, and the reunion of Chucho Valdés & Paquito D'Rivera. The festival uniquely combines legendary jazz masters with cutting-edge contemporary artists, high school and collegiate showcases, and special Midtown After Hours performances, making it Detroit's premier cultural celebration and one of America's most significant jazz events.
