Join us at the WorldBeat Cultural Center for our 45th Annual Kwanzaa Celebration from Friday, December 26 through Monday, December 29, 2025, honoring four of the seven days of the African American holiday. All events are free and family-friendly, with doors opening nightly at 6:00 PM and programs beginning at 6:30 PM.
This year also marks the inauguration of the Annual Kwanzaa Awards, honoring individuals whose work reflects the values of the Nguzo Saba, including Chuck Ambers for his lasting contributions to culture and community. Each evening will feature ceremonial candle lighting, libations, African drumming, Kwanzaa poetry by Johnnierenee Nia Nelson and Selah Blak Sol, and Karamu, the traditional communal feast. ❤️🖤💚

Friday, December 26 | Umoja (Unity)
We open with live harp by Mariea Antoinette, African drum and dance, and reflections on unity from keynote speakers Starla Lewis and Dr. Derah.
Saturday, December 27 | Kujichagulia (Self-Determination)
Pulitzer Prize–winning historian Dr. Edda L. Fields-Black delivers a powerful keynote and book signing of “Combee” honoring Harriet Tubman and self-determination.
Sunday, December 28 | Ujima (Collective Work & Responsibility)
Keynote voices Ayanna Gregory and Shugri Said Salh share stories of resilience, activism, and collective care.
Monday, December 29 | Ujamaa (Cooperative Economics)
We close with a conscious and uplifting poetry evening with performances by Tebe Zalango, Fre3sty13, and Selah Blak Sol.
