About this Event
The NAACP Aiken County Branch is proud to announce our 45th Annual Freedom Fundraising Campaign and 108th Branch Anniversary Celebration, and we invite you to partner with us in advancing equity, opportunity, and justice throughout our community. The event will be held on Friday, September 25, 2026, at 7:00 PM at the USC Aiken Convocation Center on the campus of University of South Carolina Aiken.
Our 2026 theme, “We The People,” reflects the powerful opening words of the Preamble to the U.S. Constitution, reminding us that meaningful progress begins with engaged citizens working together. This theme calls our community to collective action as we continue the work of protecting civil rights, expanding educational and economic opportunities, and dismantling inequities that impact families across Aiken County and beyond. Freedom Fund celebrations are premier fundraising and recognition events for NAACP branches nationwide. Through your sponsorship, you directly support initiatives that:
- Provide scholarships for members of our award-winning Youth Council
- Strengthen USC Aiken College Chapter programming and leadership development
- Expand civic engagement and community education efforts in Aiken County and beyond
This year’s program will feature an inspiring keynote address by Bishop Eric J. Freeman, Ph.D., founder and Senior Pastor of The Meeting Place Church of Greater Columbia. Through Dr. Freeman’s leadership, tens of millions of dollars have been directed to transform underutilized spaces and provide workforce training, health services, and empowerment programs. His community advocacy and voice reflect the urgency and importance of our theme.
Our Branch continues to set a standard of excellence. We have been recognized as the Top NAACP Branch in South Carolina and the Top Mid-Sized Branch in the Nation, while our Youth Council has earned both state and national recognition for innovative programming. Last year marked another milestone as our inaugural Afro-Academic, Cultural, Technological and Scientific Olympics (ACT-SO) team successfully competed at both the local and national levels—an achievement made possible through community investment and partnership.
The evening will include a catered dinner by Sodexo, highlights of our year in service, recognition of outstanding community leaders, and a celebration of the individuals and organizations who make this work possible. We hope you will join us in sustaining the impact of the Aiken County Branch by supporting our Annual Fundraising Campaign.
