We are super excited to be celebrating our 4 year Girl Gang anniversary! Can you believe it! I started Girl Gang during the Covid pandemic in 2020 when I started noticing a bunch of females riding bikes that I didn't know. In a small cycling community such as Hobart, to me, that just wasn't on! So I decided to start Girl Gang as a way of giving these women, either new to cycling or simply new to Hobart, a space to connect and meet other female cyclists (with a side mission of wanting to know ALL of the female cyclists that exist!). This month I wanted to do something special to celebrate the community that has formed over that time. We just reached 200 Girl Gangers on our page! So this is your invitation to come out of hiding!
We are going to complete a 100km 'Bushy Park loop' instead of our usual Kingston toddle. We'll have a mid ride stop at Agrarian Kitchen at the 75km mark before making our way back over Molesworth and into town for a post ride celebration at Wondr Coffee in Moonah.
I would love to make a big deal about this year's anniversary, so even if you don't come along to the ride, I would love to see as many of you as possible at post ride celebrations at Wondr! There may be some goodies up for grabs 😏
This will be a usual no drop ride. So don't let the hills scare you. This may be a slightly challenging route for some, but I wanted to avoid the highway as that's no fun for anyone and this is also a beautiful variation that I miss riding since moving out of Hobart! If anyone wishes to join for just the Bushy Park section (ie. starting from NN), please let me know and we will be sure to organise a regroup point there.
As usual, we hope to see some new and old riders along for our monthly Girl Gang ride. Staying with our original concept, this is a no drop ride (average 20-23km/h). We're all about the good coffee and better company. Come along, meet some other likeminded humans and ride your bike!
