Join The Studio’s instructor, Tiffany Thornton as she teaches you to further your sewing skills with construction of elastic waist pants!
Tiffany has been sewing over 15 year and is excited to share the sewing skills she learned from her grandma with a new generation of creators.
Class info:
Confident Beginner (students must know how to operate a sewing machine. This class is good for someone learning expand their sewing skills into garment construction)
Ages: 18+
4 weeks long/ 1 class per week
Thursdays in May (5/7, 5/14, 5/21, 5/28)
6:30pm-8:30pm

**Once a class has been paid for, any money that has been given to the studio is non-refundable.

Project: Elastic waist pants
Skills learned:
-Choosing correct fabric for the project
-Following a sewing pattern
-Cutting and pinning fabric and patterns correctly
-Sewing different types of seams
-Hemming
-Elastic waist installation
How class will run? What to expect?
Field Trip:
This class is special because we will taking a field trip to the fabric store! In order to fully understand creating a garment from start to finish, we will be adding in a trip to the fabric store (f&m fabrics on Niles) . This trip will happen prior to class. As soon as you sign up we will send a follow up email with a Google Form to determine which day/time works best for everyone.
Once at the fabric store:
We will get a tour of which aisles are good for the elastic waist pants, we will tell you how much fabric you need for the project, you will get to explore and purchase your own fabric.
***Have your own fabric? No problem! Fabric store trip is not required, only encouraged if its something you have not done before. Only requirement is that it is prewashed before class starts.
Following the fabric store:
You are required to wash your fabric prior to class
First day of class:
Cutting out our pattern and fabric.
Second day of class:
Finishing cutting out fabric and starting on construction of the pants.
Third day of class:
Continuing construction of the pants.
Fourth day of class:
Inserting elastic and hemming the bottom of the pants. All finished!
Other important information:
-A reminder email will be sent a few days prior to class
-If a student is sick they are to stay home until they feel better, notify us as soon as possible (661)889-6655
-Once a class has been paid for, any money that has been given to the studio is non-refundable. Transfers are allowed.
-Payment options for remaining balance: Cash, check (payable to The Studio Bakersfield), Card can be used but will incur a 3% service fee.
