DESCRIPTION
Becoming comfortable exploring our creativity can be hard no matter what we are doing, but especially when we are on a big steel hoop! This workshop is designed to ignite your curiosity and comfortability on this gorgeous apparatus. Over these 4 weeks we will be building a sequence to a haunting and beautiful song by a local Charlotte band (support local!). There will be a lot of room for exploration and self expression to make this your choreography -- Aly will give you the skeleton but you will add the meat!
PREREQUISITES
Comfortable in inversions on bottom and on top of hoop. Comfortable in knee cinches. Comfortable on single tab, or the desire to build comfort on it! A general knowledge of fundamental Lyra movement is also required.
SPECIAL INSTRUCTIONS
Cover knees and midriff. Be ready to have fun and to come out of your shell!
INSTRUCTOR BIO
Aly found her love for the aerial arts in 2015. After a childhood in competitive gymnastics and a passion for the performing arts from an early age, it seemed like the perfect fit in her adult life. She quickly fell in love with the art, especially on the Lyra. Aly was a Junior Olympic gold medal champion on balance beam and in the all around as well as several other state and regional gymnastics titles. She began teaching Lyra in 2017 and has since become Lyra Program Manager for AerialCLT. Aly has learned from several notable aerialists including Amy Chirico, Mandy Elledge, Katie Rothweiler, Waverly Jones, Rachel Strickland, Chetah Platt, and Rebekah Burke. She strives to make every student feel successful every time they come to class, no matter the challenges there is always a positive in that day! Aly has an affinity for dynamic movement and splits! She has performed for several events in her home city of Charlotte NC and prides herself on being able to emote through her body movements and facial expressions, she is especially known for dark and creepy pieces as well as emotional ones! She generally wants to make you creeped out or cry when performing but keep you pumped up and positive while teaching!
