Hands-on, personalized, and beginner-friendlyThis hands-on, beginner-friendly course is perfect for anyone with little to no experience in wheel throwing—or those who’ve tried it before and want to learn more in a supportive, small-group setting (maximum of 2 participants per class).
You'll work closely with our experienced instructor, who will tailor your four-week journey based on your goals. Whether you want to throw bowls, cylinders, plates, or vases, you'll gain confidence and foundational skills in a relaxed and creative environment.
Course Outline:
(10/9)Week 1: Introduction to Clay & Throwing
Get to know our studio clay and how to properly prepare it.
Watch a demonstration tailored to your interests (bowl, cylinder, plate, or vase).
Try your hand at the wheel and create 2–3 pieces.
These pieces will be set aside to trim next week.
(10/16)Week 2: Trimming & Surface Decoration
Learn how to trim your Week 1 pieces.
Explore surface decoration techniques based on your design preferences.
(10/23)Week 3: Throwing Practice
Return to the wheel to create new pieces.
Focus on refining your technique and becoming more confident in your process.
(10/30)Week 4: Final Trimming & Introduction to Glazing
Trim and finish the pieces from Week 3.
Learn glazing basics to prepare your work for its final firing.
Note: Glazing sessions will be scheduled separately after your pieces are bisque-fired (first firing).
