4-Week Beginner Wheel Throwing

11/6, 11/13, 11/20 and 12/4 (1-3pm)
A Hands-On Journey in Clay
This hands-on, beginner-friendly course is perfect for anyone with little to no experience in wheel throwing—or those who’ve tried it before and want to learn more in a supportive, small-group setting (maximum of 2 participants per class).
You’ll work closely with our experienced instructor, who will tailor your four-week journey to your experience level and goals. If you’re completely new to pottery, we’ll start with the basics of wheel throwing by learning to create bowls. As your confidence grows, you’ll develop foundational skills and explore other forms, such as cylinders, plates, and vases, at a pace that feels comfortable for you.

Course Outline
Week 1: Introduction to Clay & Throwing
Learn the basics of working with clay and get started on the pottery wheel. Beginners will focus on learning to center clay and throw their first bowls.
Week 2: Trimming & Surface Decoration
Learn how to refine your pieces through trimming and explore simple surface decoration techniques.
Week 3: Throwing Practice
Build confidence and improve your wheel-throwing skills with guided practice tailored to your progress.
Week 4: Final Trimming & Introduction to Glazing
Finish refining your pieces and learn the basics of glazing to bring your creations to life.
