4 Element Live Coaching NW3/Higher & Excellent/Master

We are excited about this location! The San Luis Coastal Unified School District has buses, classrooms, warehouses, and exterior areas for us train in! This place has it all!

Just what is "Live Coaching"?

Live Coaching means you decide how you want to run the searches to meet your current training needs. You can run searches with known amount and/or location of hides. Maybe you want to focus leash handling or reading your dog. You can even run the searches "blind" with the life line option where we only intervene if needed. Do you have more than one dog in detection sports with different areas needing work? Bring them both! You can run a different dog for each element but you only get one shot to search in each element.

Searches will be set to be challenging for NW3/Higher & Excellant/Masters Levels but no titles are required. If you are competing at a lower level, you are more than welcome to really challenge yourself and focus on skills like leash handling, change of behavior recognition, and search strategies.

Your lead instructor, Pete Stevens, is the President and Lead Trainer at The Scentsable K9. Pete retired from the Chula Vista Police Department after 24.5 years. During his career, Pete worked 4 Police Service Dogs- 3 single purpose (1 patrol and 2 narcotics) and 1 dual purpose (patrol/narcotics). Pete was assigned to patrol, Gang Suppression, Narcotics Enforcement Team, and was as a Task Force Officer assigned to Homeland Security Investigations (HSI). Pete is a Field Training Officer, Firearms Instructor, Use of Force Instructor and has an Advanced Certificate from the California Peace Officer Standards and Training (CA POST). Pete is a CA POST K9 team evaluator for patrol and narcotics. He is a Certifying Official for the International Police Canine Association (IPCA) and was a previously a member of the IPCA Board of Directors. Pete is also NACSW trial Judge. In 2018, Pete created The Scentsable K9 which has conducted over 100 workshops and seminars focused on detection. Pete graduated from the first Canine Cognition Instructors Course at Ford K9.

Pete currently handles a black Lab named "Tina" who is single purpose narcotics detection dog at Keeper Detection.
