About this Event
Italy is home to more native grape cultivars than any other winemaking country in the world, including France. When the Phoenicians arrived prior to the Romans in the 8th Century, they exclaimed 'Enotria' or 'land of the vine' due its incredible varietal diversity from region to region, sometimes vine to vine!
In this immersive tasting experience, sommelier Paul Robinson will explore Italian history through its oldest grapes and villages. We wil chart the rise of the Roman empire through to the middle ages and into modern Italian history. Through the glass, we will visit Calabria, Toscana, Sicilia, Lazio, Umbria, Sardegna and the Veneto to discover unique stories that have shaped Italian wine as we know it today.
