Ahmedabad Gujarat’s largest city hosts a major industrial cluster with 23000+ MSMEs and 500 medium & large units. The 600 foundries include 450 operational units with 70% using coke-based cupolas and the rest using induction and pit furnaces. Some also utilize natural gas-fired furnaces. Key industrial areas include Naroda Odhav Vatva Tribhuvan and Rakhial. These foundries produce 1770 tonnes of castings daily contributing 6% of India’s total output primarily for textile machinery (50%) pumps & valves (20%) agricultural machinery (10%) and sanitary equipment (10%) employing 30000 people.
