3rd Annual Stewards of the Wild All-Stewards Duck Hunt at Bucksnag

We are proud to announce our third annual all-stewards duck hunt at Bucksnag Hunting Club. We have ONLY 24 SPOTS available for this hunt. Each individual can purchase only one ticket. The only exception is if you purchase a ticket for your spouse. The extra ticket you purchase for an individual will share a room with you. ALL participants MUST be a Stewards of the Wild Member. This will be verified and you will be contacted if you do not have a valid current membership at the time of the hunt.

Here's the drill:

• Duck hunting Monday and Tuesday morning;
• Lodging Sunday and Monday night (double occupancy, if you do not buy two tickets, you will be assigned a room with someone else. We will do our best to place members from the same city together); and
• Meals Sunday night, Monday, and Tuesday morning (beer included throughout the trip).
• Hunters will be asked to also bring $50 in cash to cover guide tips

Please plan to bring all the normal supplies necessary for a waterfowl hunt, except for chairs and decoys. This includes:

• Waders, camouflage, gloves, etc.;
• Your own shotgun;
• non-toxic ammunition;
• Texas Hunting License (including proof of Hunter Education Certification) with:
• Texas Migratory Game Bird Endorsement;
• HIP Certification; and
• Federal Duck Stamp.

**Refunds are not available – NO EXCEPTIONS.

Trip Dates: January 8-10, 2023

Where: The historic Bucksnag Hunting Club in Garwood, Texas. It is near Eagle Lake, Texas, which is well known for its duck and goose hunting. Bucksnag is a private hunting club, not open to the general public. http://www.bucksnag.com/

Itinerary:

Sunday, January 8, 2023: Meet in Garwood at the Bucksnag Club (Bucksnag Hunting Club, 507 Arthur Street, Garwood, Texas 77442) between 5:00 PM and 7PM. Do NOT arrive earlier than 5:00PM. Snacks and beer will be served at 6:00PM, followed by dinner at 7:00PM. There are some card tables for those interested.

Monday, January 9, 2023: Split up into smaller groups for morning hunts. Depending on the scouting reports by the club, we may shoot ducks or geese. We are 95% likely to only hunt ducks…. the goose availability depends on scouting reports and favorable weather.

After hunting, we will have a meal at the club and the rest of the day is open to hang out and relax We’ll conclude the day with dinner at the club.

Tuesday January 10, 2023: Morning hunt, followed by a meal at the club before departing.

Payment Details: You’ve paid the guide fees, lodging and meals, but everyone still needs to bring $50 to cover guide tips, staff tips, and bird cleaning fees. We will collect the $50 at the time of check-in and if you forget, there’s an ATM down the street from the lodge.

Gear to bring: Please bring all the normal supplies you would bring for a waterfowl hunt, except for chairs and decoys. This means you will need to bring:

1. A shotgun
2. Non-toxic ammunition (see below for more info)
3. Camouflage/rain gear
4. Waders
5. Gloves
6. A hat and sunglasses to cover your face
7. A headlamp
8. A bag to hold your gear in the blind

Warning: failure to bring this gear could result in you not being able to hunt. There is nowhere in Garwood to purchase this stuff.

Ammunition recommendations: The Bucksnag guides recommend bringing two boxes of No. 2 or No. 4 of shells per day. There are no places in Garwood to purchase shells.

License: You must have your Texas Hunting License with (1) Texas Migratory Game Bird Endorsement, (2) HIP Certification, and (3) Federal Duck Stamp. You must also have proof of Hunter Education Certification.

Liquor and wine: The club provides beer, but anyone wanting liquor or wine needs to bring their own.
