He is author of two books of poetry, I Only Left for Tea (2014 Muddy Ford Press), Man with Two Shadows (2018 Muddy Ford Press); co-editor Hand in Hand: Poets Respond to Race (2017 Muddy Ford Press); was the 2017 Jasper Literary Artist of the Year; co-founded the Poets Respond to Race Initiative, co-hosts the Chewing the Gristle, a poetry chat Youtube series and has a weekly byline in jasperproject.org – Poetry of the People.
"Alyssa comes from a creative family. Her mother has a beautiful voice, her father denies having a beautiful voice, her older sister performs in off-Broadway shows, one of her younger brothers composes instrumental music, and the other brother sings with abandon every chance he gets. The constant support Alyssa has received from them, her friends, her peers, and her partner is priceless.
She teaches private music lessons, writes and performs original songs, takes dozens of photos of small, important things, and writes poetry and reads less frequently than she’d like. She lives in downtown Columbia with three other women and a stripy ginger cat.
She won the inaugural Combahee River Prize for a South Carolina BIPOC Writer. Her work is published in Jasper Magazine and in Fall Lines Volume X."
Elizabeth Robin, retired teacher and award-winning poet, has three Finishing Line Press books: To My Dreamcatcher (2022), Where Green Meets Blue (2018) and Silk Purses and Lemonade (2017). She partnered with the Office of Cultural Affairs to establish the Hilton Head Poetry Trail, a 25-station route of local poets. A Piccolo Spoleto Sundown Poet (2023), she won the 2021 Carrie McCray Nickens Fellowship, was an IWN open mic emcee for eight years, and creates literary programs on Hilton Head Island. Recent work appears in The Jasper Project: Poetry of the People, Poetry Society (SC) Yearbook, Catfish Stew, Ukweli, Drunk Monkeys and others. More at: http://www.elizabethrobin.com
