THANK YOU, Cherie McBroom Peake, for making the FredNats Sunshine Baseball League Powered by REC the beneficiary of your annual Allen Peake, Jr. Memorial Golf Tournament at 9 a.m. on Sept. 24, 2021, at Lee's Hill Golf Club. Allen was a great player and coach in Stafford-- and a force of nature when it came to giving kids the opportunity to play ball and helping to steer them in the right direction in life. The Sunshine Baseball League, launched by the late Doris Buffett, attempts to do the same things Allen did. Doris has passed now and we need help to keep the league going and provide scholarships and free uniforms and equipment to deserving kids. We have PA announcers at games, along with electronic scoreboards and music between innings and nice uniforms, all to build self-esteem.
Please support our kids by registering to play in the tournament and/or sponsoring a hole! Register in person at 8 a.m. the day of the event or call Cherie McBroom Peake at 540/850-6134 or Dave Carpenter at 540/903-7758 about registration or sponsoring a hole.
"Sometimes all a child needs is to know that someone believes in them and that makes all the difference," Doris said about the league. She and Allen were on the same page about kids and baseball.
