🎉 Save the Date – Celebrate 3 Years of The Fix It Group 23! 🎉
Join us on Saturday 17 October 2026 as we celebrate three years of The Fix It Group 23 and take part in the 10th International Repair Day.
The Fix It Group 23 was founded in October 2023 by Chairman John, Treasurer Paul and Secretary Chris. What started as a small community initiative has grown into a thriving volunteer-led Repair Café. Together, we've helped over a thousand people repair much-loved items, save money, reduce waste and prevent countless items from ending up in landfill.
We're delighted to be celebrating our anniversary on International Repair Day, a global event founded by The Restart Project and the Open Repair Alliance. Held on the third Saturday of October each year, it celebrates the power of repair to bring communities together, reduce waste, share skills and inspire people to repair rather than replace. This year marks its 10th anniversary, making it the perfect occasion to celebrate everything the repair movement has achieved.
We're also pleased to welcome our local MP, Peter Bedford MP for Mid Leicestershire, who recently met with our committee to learn more about the work of The Fix It Group 23 and The Restart Project. Following the meeting, he signed the UK Repair & Reuse Declaration, recognising that more can be done to make repair more accessible, affordable and better supported within our communities.
🎂 Come along for cake, celebration and conversation about repair! Whether you're one of our regular visitors, a volunteer or simply curious to find out more, everyone is welcome.
