About Us
3D Oddities, a new 3D print shop pop-up and custom design studio, is now open at the Logan Square Indoor Farmer’s Market, 2800 N. Milwaukee Ave., Chicago, IL 60618. Equal parts maker-space, classroom, and creative playground, 3D Oddities is designed to be welcoming for every age — from curious kids discovering STEM for the first time to adults, artists, and small businesses who want to design and produce their own custom products.
The shop offers a full menu of services on-site:
- submit 3D files for printing in a variety of materials including PLA, PETG, and TPU (aka rubber)
- have 2D images and drawings converted into 3D models
- sign up for one-on-one 3D print consulting and education
- take part in fun, rotating STEM and art classes that require no prior experience.
“I really wanted to provide a space to make 3D printing more accessible to the general public. People think 3D printing is just making cheap plastic toys, but have no idea that there is a huge, free online community now that as long as you have access to a printer, you can print anything from purses and sneakers to even pediatric wheelchairs, here people can come ” said Ann Marie Carrothers, the founder of 3D Oddities. “Whether you’ve never touched a 3D printer or you already have a design ready to go, there’s a place for you here.”
