Learn to execute a wondrous coral reef embroidery from concept design to finished product ready for display. Week 1 will focus on exploring design concepts, sketching out ideas, and transferring your final design sketch to your fabric. Then you will learn how to turn 5 needle weaving techniques into 8 different types of elements. Week 2 will focus on beaded embroidery techniques, where you will learn how to combine different bead types and techniques to create several types of anemones, corals, and background elements. In Week 3 we will go back to embroidery floss to learn how to continue fleshing out our design with 17 new techniques. Week 4 will have you adding your final embellishments and allow you to catch up on any techniques we couldn’t get to in Weeks 1-3. You will then learn 3 ways to turn your embroidery into a finished piece ready to display. Join us on this underwater adventure you won’t want to miss!

Michelle is an up-and-coming fiber and wellness artist in the west side of Cincinnati. She specializes in crochet and embroidery, with over 5 years of experience in both, but is constantly expanding her skill set. Michelle sells various crochet, amigurumi, and upcycled items through her small business, plithora, which debuted last fall at Wooly Fest in Covington. Michelle is an active participant in the Cincinnati queer community, and she is always looking for more ways to offer inclusive art experiences for members of the LGBTQ+ community.

If you are not feeling well, please contact the instructor instead of coming to the class. On a case-by-case basis, we may be able to reschedule you into a future class or provide a make-up lesson. Ticket fees are not normally refunded.

Depending on the CDC Guidelines for Hamilton County at the time the class is held, a mask may be required. If so, you will be notified before the first class.

Unless specifically stated, Weavers Guild classes are designed for ages 18 and above. On a case-by-case basis, a minor may be permitted to register for a class but must be accompanied by a registered adult who agrees to assist the minor during the class. Contact the Education Committee Chair at [email protected] for permission before registering any minor in a class.

Fees are non-refundable. Your fee will only be refunded if the class is canceled or changed to a different date. Three registrations are required for a class to be held. Students will be notified before the start date if a class is canceled due to an insufficient number of students. Eventbrite processing and credit card payment fees will not be refunded if a student cancels for any reason.
