32st Annual Richard Frucht Memorial Lecture Series and Student Conference

Join us for a series of student-focused anthropology info sessions and research showcases as part of the Richard Frucht Memorial Lecture Series.

Attend to listen to short talks or sign up to share your own research in one of our themed sessions: Linguistics, Biological Anthropology, Sociocultural Anthropology, Archaeology, or our Interdisciplinary Session.

You can also choose to showcase your research visually by participating in the COMPASS / Frucht Poster Competition, highlighting student work from across the four fields of anthropology.

The Richard Frucht Memorial Lecture Series was created in honour of Dr. Richard Frucht, a beloved professor in the University of Alberta’s Department of Anthropology. In the spirit of his commitment to broad, four-field scholarship and student engagement, this event celebrates research, dialogue, and academic community at all levels.

Info: The 32nd Annual Richard Frucht Memorial Lecture Series and Student Conference, hosted by the Association of Graduate Anthropology Students at the University of Alberta, invites undergraduate and graduate students to submit abstracts for podium presentations.

We welcome research from all four fields of anthropology—archaeology, biological anthropology, sociocultural anthropology, and linguistic anthropology—as well as interdisciplinary work. Podium presentations offer an excellent opportunity to share your research, gain conference presentation experience, and strengthen your CV in a supportive academic environment.

Students at all stages of their research are encouraged to apply.

All submissions will be evaluated by a panel of judges, with top presentations recognized through conference awards.

Info: Submissions are welcome from all four fields of anthropology—archaeology, biological anthropology, sociocultural anthropology, and linguistic anthropology—as well as interdisciplinary projects.


The poster competition provides an opportunity to present your work in a supportive academic setting, gain valuable presentation experience, and build your CV.
