3 Part - Studio Dance Photography Workshop

Are you ready to dance?

Overview:

This 3-Part class is a guide for photographers of any level on how to take the first steps (or leap) into studio dance photography. Whether you have worked with dancers before or are just starting out, this course will give you a strong foundation on capturing the Beauty and Balance of Dance Photography. Participants will learn about studio photography lighting equipment, fundamental camera settings and tethered shooting techniques, and the basics dance posing that will make your images stand out!

Part 1: Online Lecture

Join Mike's Camera and Candidly created as they teach you the fundamental camera settings to use and lighting techniques to capture the details of dance photography. They will share how to pose and direct your subject to capture both static and movement in your images.

• Part 1 will be presented lecture style with a power point presentation as well as supplemental pre-recorded content
• There will be multiple Q&A opportunities
• This session will be about 1.5 hours.

‍Part 2: In-Person Workshop

This is a hands-on class where photographers can apply the concepts learned in Part One at the Candidly Created Studios, and work with professional ballet dancers to create portfolio worthy images. This course begins with a showcase of the equipment used by the Candidly Created team for dance photography, including information on lighting modifiers, strobes, triggers, backgrounds, and other essentials used to achieve certain looks. Photographers will expand their understanding of studio photography and learn posing concepts for capturing three-dimensional dance positions faithfully in their work.

‍In this class we will learn:

• This class will be held at the Candidly Created Studio in the Santa Fe Arts District
• It will be a 3 hour in-person session
• The course will be led by Lead Photographer Francisco Estevez and assisted by other Candidly Created team members.
• There will be two lighting set up demos that will be used for photographers to capture images later in the session.
• A professional dance model will be available for each lighting set up.
• Snacks and coffee will be provided.
• There will be multiple Q&A opportunities.

‍Part 3: Online Photo Critiques

Meet online with members of the Candidly Created team to take the next steps in your studio dance photography journey. Each attendee from Part 2 will have the opportunity to share their favorite image and receive critique and guidance.
