About this Event

Boulder, CO is a hotbed for shred. We have the world class Valmont Bike Park, tons of beautiful trails, abundant restaurants and plenty of places to stay.

Let’s join each other for three days of kung fu mountain bike skills, group flow experiences and some of the best riding you’ll ever experience.

Fall 2022 #1: Oct. 7-9. Sign up for the Oct. 7 session.

Fall 2022 #2: Oct. 14-17. Sign up for the Oct. 14 session.

WAITLIST: if your desired camp is full, please sign up for the waitlist. If someone cancels, which happens, we’ll let you in. Also, if the list is long enough, we’ll add a coach to handle the bigger group.

Schedule

Before camp. When you sign up for this camp, you will receive 30 days of free access to our online mountain bike school at www.llbmtb.com. Using the site as a textbook, we’ll provide specific direction on how to dial in your bike, increase your mobility and build fitness. The more prepared you are for camp, the more fun you’ll have.

Each day starts at 10 a.m. and runs until about 4 p.m. If we’re having fun (which is likely), we might ride until dark. We’ll make adjustments as needed for weather, rider abilities, etc.

Friday. Meet each other at Valmont Bike Park. Spend the whole day working core skills including hinging, braking, cornering, pumping, dropping, technical climbing and jumping. We will take you as far as you’re ready to go safely. Even more importantly, we’ll teach you the mental and emotional skills to experience very high levels of joy on your rides. We’ll make you fast too, if that’s a goal. :)

Saturday. Depending on how Friday goes, we’ll either start at Valmont Bike Park for more core skills then head to a local trail, or we’ll meet at the local trail.

Sunday. We’ll go on a big, adventurous trail ride. You’ll plug your new skills and mindset into real-life terrain. You’ll create your own personal sine wave of love. Depending on how you look at life, we will all enjoy a deep physiological flow state, or we’ll share a deeply spiritual experience. It’s all the same.

What you will learn

We will teach you the Grand Unified Theory of Shred: an elegant, powerful approach to riding that makes everything you do easier, faster, funner and more fun.

We’ll teach you the essentials of:

  • Riding positions
  • Braking
  • Cornering
  • Riding up steep things
  • Riding down steep things
  • Pumping terrain
  • Dropping
  • Jumping
  • Technical climbing
  • Reading trails
  • Achieving FLOW
  • And more
Your teachers

Lee McCormack. Lee (the Lee in Lee Likes Bikes) is the world’s most renowned mountain bike skills author, video star and instructor. He’s written 11 books and thousands of articles, and he’s featured in many videos and podcasts. He has trained more than 9,000 riders of all styles and levels, from first timers to pros. He is a master of the mechanical aspects of riding. Even more importantly, he has the power to help you realize your highest potential — both on and off the bike. Students say time with Lee is a combination of P.E., therapy and church!

Patrick Carey. Patrick is a true professional and spirit warrior. He brings a decade of full-time coaching experience and combines that with many years of riding and racing at the national level. Patrick is a USA Cycling Elite coach and trains riders from first timers to national champions. Want to nerd out on the science of riding? Patrick also has a degree in mechanical engineering and a keen understanding of biomechanics.

Andy Somerville. Andy is a seasoned bike coach who helps riders of all ages improve their efficiency and performance. As a founding coach and a director for the SoCal High School Cycling League, Andy has helped scores of teens (yikes!) win races and simply finish races in one piece. When you work with Andy, you are getting a whole lot of experience plus excellent kung fu.

We will bring additional coaches as needed to serve everyone who attends camp.
