WHAT IS REVIVAL? We need revival! It is a cry of my heart.
It's a sovereign move of God. In terms of what the revival will look like, the timing of when it comes, how it comes or how long it lasts depends on our working with God. Revival is simply an outpouring of the Holy Spirit.
Re-vive means to bring back to life.
Revival can add an emphasis of something lacking, something missing, something forgotten or something so needed at that moment. On the streets of Minneapolis during the 2020 riots, when my wife and I stepped out to preach, what was mostly needed was Unity. That is why what was happening was a Unity Revival to shift the atmosphere of strife into peace. The Lord turned the riot into a revival.
THE 8 IRREFUTABLE FACTS ABOUT REVIVAL.
1.Begins with hunger to host the presence of God until it swells like a dam and breaks out. After 10 days of prayer, the day of Pentecost suddenly came. (Acts 1:13-14; Acts 2:1-4).
2. Revival is not something we passively wait for and don’t care whether it happens or not. It is something we desire, we want, we pursue, we are desperate for, we are hungry for. Although it is a sovereign move of God, it comes only to those who are hungry and willing to go the distance. The reason is when revival comes, people who are hungry and desperate realize they cannot do without revival. The hungry ones want more of it. They’re ready to steward it and pay whatever price it takes to have more of it.
3. Disruption of the natural by the supernatural; The prayer meetings crying out for revival went on for 10 days both day and night. The greatest need we have in Revival Now is allowing the Lord to disrupt our lives and break into our American Church culture. Are you read to be disrupted?
4. Conviction with repentance. In revivals, Many people come to Jesus. Many who were hardened in their hearts get open for Jesus. (Acts 2: 37-41; Saul turned to Paul Acts 9, Simon the sorcerer got saved Acts 8:9-25). Get ready to see radical salvation and return of the prodigals, Government leaders getting saved and Moslems seeing the appearance of a man in white garments. They find out it is Jesus and they begin getting saved.
5. Signs and wonders (Acts 19: 11; Acts 19:17-20). The fear of God comes to the people as they turn fully to God. Miracles, signs and wonders break out. The God of the impossible begins to show up in ways never seen before.
6. Secular media and those outside the church begin to talk about it. In Acts 17:6, the word on the street was that, “the men who have turned the world upside down are here”. You’re about to become the talk of town! Get ready!
7. Joy in the city and new life in the church. Revival has a vibrant atmosphere to it. (Acts 8:5-8) revival brought joy to the city of Samaria. People began dancing with joy in the river of God as it began to flow with healing and deliverance.
8. Radical generosity. Where there is Glory there is Gold. All truth is parallel. Heaven is full of Glory and its streets are paved with Gold. Holy of Holies is where the Shekinnah Glory dwells and all the articles there are made of pure Gold. Acts 4:34-35 reports that during the revival, people gave radically and generously to the move of God. Be a lover of the move of God. Sow into revival generously.
