3 Day Food Photography & Food Styling Retreat

Join the award winning team of photographer DL Acken and food stylist Aurelia Louvet for an ALL NEW 3 day intensive commercial food photography business and styling workshop to be held on beautiful Salt Spring Island, BC. Together we'll enjoy 3 full days of advanced learning, styling, shooting, laughing and of course, eating! The focus will be on the business of commercial and lifestyle food photography as well as both the technical and stylistic aspects of editorial story-telling. Aurelia Louvet will spend a day levelling up your styling game with insight into the tricks, tips, and methods that the professional food stylists use in their craft, while we create beautiful moments at the incredible Bullock Lake Farm . Come and learn the how-to's of the professional food photography world: working food with light and angles, understanding contrast, depth of field and composition as it applies to food, as well as the key equipment involved in food photography. We'll also discover the way in which your choice of props, surfaces, and other styling aspects change the look and feel of your shot. Props and styling aids will be supplied. We’ll do a deep dive into the logistics from marketing to pitching to image licensing, and invoicing with full portfolio reviews for those that want them. This is a tell all weekend full of information and inspiration - not to mention yummy food!

AURELIA LOUVET is an award winning food stylist based who lives, works, and plays world-wide. Having eaten around the world, Aurelia is known for her evocative style that combines modern North American sensibility and classic European beauty.
