2ND BEST FEST / Angel Bones

2ND BEST FEST is BACK! After being so rudely interrupted by a global pandemic, the “World Famous” Coalition Theater is proud to present its 6th Annual 2ND BEST FEST (June 8-10) featuring improv, sketch, and stand-up comedy acts from Los Angeles, Chicago, Baltimore, Washington DC, and Richmond VA crammed into 3 magical nights at 8 W. Broad St!

SATURDAY @ 7PM / Featuring performers from Second City Chicago, Washington DC, and Richmond, VA, this block’s performing groups are Angel Bones, The Pearfects, and Wolf Night.

House opens at 6:30PM / Tix: $12 advance ($15 at the door)

Angel Bones (Chicago) is an improv super group that combines the very best of Chicago improv – veteran performers who have perfected the art of present, patient, and honest improv that has the added bonus of being funny as hell too. Angel Bones is made up of performers from Second City’s e.t.c stage, the Second City touring company, and the Improvised Shakespeare Company.

The Pearfects (Washington DC) perform short form improv where you, the audience, create the show. Their games involve heavy audience participation that can lead to amazing and memorable events on stage. Feel free to let loose with your suggestions!

Wolf Night (Richmond) is a ragtag team of drop-outs, losers, and absolute fools. In the nine months they’ve been performing to frenzied, swooning crowds as one of the Coalition Theater‘s house teams, they’ve emerged as a goofy, idiosyncratic group able to balance an exploration of games with emotionally grounded character work. In a format of their own creation, similar to the Harold in the same way Taco Bell is similar to authentic Mexican food, they take audiences on a weird and wondrous journey where the only guarantee is a hell of a good time. Wolf Night is Brandon Beswick, Isabel Cooke, Josh Wright, Ryan Dondero, and Z Seliquini.

Located in Richmond's Downtown Arts District, the mission of the nonprofit Coalition Theater is to build an inclusive space where laughter connects people. Proceeds from 2ND BEST FEST help further this mission, supporting performances, comedic education, and community outreach.
