Dear Friends of Aletha's Legacy,
We are thrilled to invite you to the 2nd Annual Sunset at the Penthouse on Wednesday, June 16th from 5-7pm!
Joan and Stephen Carter are graciously hosting this gathering at their penthouse in Silver Shells (15400 Emerald Coast Pkwy, St. Thomas Building, PH7A) in Destin. Our second annual ‘friendraiser’ for Aletha’s Legacy will feature fabulous hors d'oeuvres, wine, bourbon and beer and a silent auction—all overlooking the beautiful Gulf of Mexico and a stunning sunset!
Aletha's Legacy will present its new project in 2021: the renovation of the Children's Future Program & Orphanage in Kakata, Liberia. This orphanage is home to 51 children, who lost their parents during the multi-year ebola crisis. The renovation will include a new roof, kitchen, bathrooms, classroom updates, a new computer room, new library, proper waste disposal and more. The proceeds raised during this event will directly impact the future of these orphans in Kakata.
Aletha's Legacy is a 501(c)3 non-profit founded by Liberian native, Zhalman Harris, to honor his mother, Aletha, who lost her life and their home during the 14-year civil war that ravaged their country in West Africa. Through mission trips, the organization improves under-privileged children's lives in his home country by renovating schools and orphanages; improving the quality of education; and access to nutrition at school.
