Community, Sustainability, and Fun – Celebrating Acres Home’s Growth Through Education, Recreation, and Local Flavors
This family-friendly fundraiser is designed to spotlight the Acres Home Chamber of Commerce as a vital hub for economic development, community empowerment, and innovation in Houston’s northside. By leveraging the Chamber’s on-site hydroponic farm, business center, and outdoor spaces, the event demonstrates the Chamber’s role in fostering local entrepreneurship (e.g., through the ongoing farmers market), promoting sustainable agriculture, and providing recreational opportunities that build community bonds. All proceeds from entry fees, tournament sign-ups, and sponsorships will directly support the Chamber’s programs, such as business workshops, youth initiatives, and economic grants – ensuring every dollar collected gives back to Acres Home’s growth. With proper advertising via social media, local radio, flyers at the farmers market, and partnerships like AABE Energy, we project raising $15,000–$25,000 net after expenses, making this a profitable fundraiser scalable for future years.
The event integrates seamlessly with the ongoing Acres Home Farmers Market (10 AM – 2 PM), drawing in market shoppers while expanding to the Chamber’s outdoor grounds, including the Woodhouse area (for general mingling and vendor booths), softball/baseball fields (for tournaments), and kids zone (potentially powered by AABE Energy’s energy-efficient solutions to highlight sustainability). The smaller parking lot adjacent to the Chamber warehouse will host the BBQ cook-off, with the vegan cook-off set up immediately next to it, featuring fresh vegetables harvested from the Chamber’s hydroponic farm. This layout maximizes space, encourages flow between activities, and emphasizes the Chamber’s benefits: access to fresh, local produce; community gathering spaces; and partnerships that drive eco-friendly initiatives.
