Hello everyone! We are just over a month away from our SECOND ANUAL sensory-friendly fall festival and trunk or treat! Few noteworthy things about our event and why we are doing this.
Wichita County Autism Awareness is a 501c3 Non Profit. We host sensory friendly, community events for individuals on the Autism Spectrum, as well as their families to create acceptance and inclusion. Our mission is to invest in autism awareness and acceptance in order to empower those in our community. We do that by connecting people to the resources they need through education, advocacy, support, information and referral, and community programming.
We could use candy donations, cars for our trunk or treat, volunteers for games and face painting, monetary donations to purchase food for our event, any in kind donations your business is willing to contribute, and of course resources for special needs families. The holiday season can be a rough time for our families, and we want to bring a sense of belonging to families in our community.
With that being said, here are a few, simple things we are asking from y’all to make this a FANTASTIC event!
? You are more than welcome to dress up! Please no overly scary, or gory costumes.
?If you’re signed up for our event and want to play some music at your station, or trunk— We ask that it be at a low volume, and family friendly content.
?No strobe lights please. We want to be conscious of our friends’ various medical conditions.
?Please be patient and understanding— again we are serving a community that can struggle with communication, have sensory needs, or lack fine motor skills. Those are just some of the things they may be dealing with.
♾️ Autism is a Spectrum, and no two people are the same! ♾️
?With the event being in a parking lot, we do not have access to electricity, unfortunately. Please make sure to charge your batteries and bring you generators if you are in need of power.
?The event starts at 1pm! Set up starts at 12pm/noon the day of. If you think you need more time than that, feel free to come early.
?We will be located between Memorial Stadium and Garnett Field. In the 'D' Parking lot. We will have access to the bathrooms.
