2nd Annual Ivy Day of Action

On Monday, February 16th (Presidents’ Day), our Social Justice Ministry will be in Richmond for our 2nd Annual Day of Action at the General Assembly. The day will include meetings with legislators, observing committee meetings, and learning firsthand about the legislative process. This experience is primarily educational and centered on understanding policies that directly impact our communities and families.

We will host a virtual interest and training meeting on Monday, January 12th at 7:00 p.m. to walk through what to expect and to discuss advocacy and lobbying more broadly!

Info: 6:00 AM – Meet at Ivy Baptist Church to load the van.
6:45 AM – Depart for Richmond, VA.
8:00 AM – Arrive in Richmond, VA (General Assembly Building). 201 N 9th St
8:30 AM – Check-in at the General Assembly Building
8:45 AM – Meet at the 10th Floor Subcommittee Room.
9:00 AM - 10:45 AM – Scheduled meetings with Delegates.
11:30 AM – Transition to the Virginia State Capitol.
Afternoon Schedule
12:00 PM – Be seated in the Gallery to observe the session.
1:00 PM – Exit the Gallery.
2:00 PM – Return to the General Assembly Building for:
Lunch on your own.
Afternoon meetings with legislators- Sen. Locke, Sen. Diggs, Del. Price, Del. Simonds, Del. Ward, Del. Thornton.
Observe committee meetings.
4:00 PM – Return to the bus for departure.
5:00 PM – Arrive back at Ivy Baptist Church.
