2nd Annual Dogust 1st celebration

Raise the Woof for DOGust 1st! Join us from Noon–2 p.m. on Saturday, August 1 at the Jan Rees-Jones Animal Care Center for our 2nd Annual DOGust 1st Birthday Celebration—and the best part? It’s completely free!
We’ll be celebrating shelter pets with:
A giant birthday cake for dogs lovingly baked by SPCA of Texas employees, volunteers, and fosters
Birthday cake for both dogs and humans
A community art gallery showcasing kindness toward animals
Free adoptions for adult dogs and cats July 31–August 2
Whether you’re looking for a new best friend or just want to celebrate with us, DOGust 1st is sure to be a barking good time.
Show Off Your Paw-some Creativity! 🎨🐾
Artists of all ages are invited to create an original 8.5″ x 11″ poster inspired by kindness toward animals. Bring your masterpiece to the DOGust 1st celebration and see it displayed in our art gallery. All submitted artwork will remain on display at the Jan Rees-Jones Animal Care Center through August 10, 2026.
No experience required, just your imagination and a heart for animals!
