2d3d+ Opening Event & Award Ceremony

About Poly-Kroma’s 2d3d+:

The 2024 2D3D+ Juried Art Exhibition features art and visual communication design work by Art Department students at all grade levels. Displays of two-dimensional artforms such as painting, drawing, photography, printmaking, poster design, and book-making; three-dimensional arts such as pottery, ceramics, sculpture, assemblage, and installation art were the earlier artforms presented. As time and technology has evolved, more diverse and emerging artforms such as time-based media, digital and technical illustration, motion graphics, video, gaming and animation have become integral to the arts and creative processes at Cal Poly Pomona, and its forward-thinking Art Department. As this exhibition and its displayed artforms grow and bound forward, it has evolved now into 2d3d+ in order to capture the essences of 4D and 5D outcomes that the Art Department’s current student body produces as part of their polytechnic experience. As always, this annual event continues to delight the University campus and local community, as it has for over five decades.

On first viewing, jurors focused on the “stand-outs” and artworks with most originality. On the subsequent rounds, they considered concept and craft. Overall, jurors considered craftsmanship and presentation, skill in technical use of media, as well as creative execution of content and concept. After making their final selections, the jurors honed-in on those pieces they suggested granting top prizes to: special images and objects that also contain unique qualities that set them apart from the rest. From there, jurors unanimously nominated First, Second, Third Place, and Honorable Mention Awards in the Fine Art and Visual Communication Design categories which are announced during our Opening Reception and 2d3d+ Award Ceremony on Mon., April 29, 2024 @ 6-8pm at the Kellogg University Art Gallery (35A).
