28th Milliken Award Celebration
About this Event
Please plan to join us and upwards of 250 guests for the 28th edition of our signature annual event.
Festivities include presentation of the Helen & William Milliken Distinguished Service Award, which recognizes individuals who show outstanding leadership, enduring commitment and extraordinary public service in protecting natural resources. This year's recipient is Lois DeBacker, former program director with the Kresge and C.S. Mott Foundations who championed environmental projects in Michigan at both.
We invite you to join us as we honor Lois and enjoy a night of strolling food, complimentary drinks and connection with fellow environmental advocates from across the state.
Lois DeBacker has dedicated her career to environmental philanthropy and public service, championing sustainable solutions and climate resilience from the local to the national level. As a long-time leader at both The Kresge Foundation and the C.S. Mott Foundation, she has consistently advanced strategic grantmaking that prioritizes bold climate action, capacity building, and equity.
From shaping Michigan’s early pollution-prevention efforts in state government to managing Kresge’s expansive urban climate initiatives, DeBacker’s leadership has helped accelerate greenhouse gas reductions, foster regional collaboration, and ensure frontline communities have the resources to advocate for themselves. Her enduring commitment to investing in people and durable infrastructure continues to inspire and empower the next generation of environmental leaders.
