About this Event
Jointly provided by the Stark County Domestic Violence Collaborative, the Stark County Prosecutor’s Office, the Stark County Sheriff’s Office and the Aultman Health Foundation.
Domestic violence is a serious social problem and national health concern with significant negative impacts on individuals and communities. The response to domestic violence involves a trauma informed approach through a collaboration of multiple agencies and disciplines. The conference will focus on a case study of a criminal case from start to finish and also focus on support services outside the criminal justice process.
Attendees will gain understanding of the multidisciplinary roles of law enforcement, medical staff, prosecutors, advocates and child protective services. In addition, attendees will gain insight to the complexities of domestic violence from the survivor perspective, the importance of a trauma informed response, mandated reporting requirements, victims’ rights, ethical decision making, and cultural and diversity considerations.
