Phoenix Choir of Crawley invite you to a concert of music that reflects American history, in the cantata Hiawatha's Wedding Feast by Samuel Coleridge-Taylor, and features some of our favourite music by American composers, including Samuel Barber (Adagio for Strings and Sure on this Shining Night), Scott Joplin (The Entertainer), Eric Whitacre (The Seal Lullaby), Aaron Copland (Simple Gifts), Leonard Bernstein (songs from West Side Story), Ysaye M. Barnwell (Wanting Memories), George & Ira Gershwin (Summertime) and more.
With a professional orchestra of 24 players including a harpist, and professional tenor soloist Paul Austin Kelly, this concert marks the 250th anniversary of American Independence and it promises to be a memorable musical feast.
The indoor PICNIC CONCERT will start at 6pm and will have an extended interval during which the audience and performers can enjoy a picnic (bring your own). There is plenty of seating available, outdoors if the weather allows, or indoors if not! Drinks (alcoholic and non-alcoholic) will be for sale, or you can bring your own.
The venue is St Wilfrid’s Catholic School, off Old Horsham Rd., Crawley RH11 8PG.
There is car parking on site, and level access to the main school hall where the concert will take place.
Tickets for adults are £15 in advance or £16 on the door. Full time student tickets are £7. Children age 16 or under are admitted free (maximum of three per paying adult). Tickets can be bought in advance online from TICKETSOURCE or phone 07821872666.
