23rd Annual TARFEST - Beacon 250
About this Event
TARFEST- Beacon 250 celebrates both the 250th birthday of the United States and LA’s rich cultural heritage with dynamic music and arts programming. Musical programming on the 89.9 KCRW Stage includes live musical performances from 6:00 – 8:00pm by the School of Rock Fairfax District-LA House Band and LA Opera Connects with performers Cedric Berry, bass-baritone, and Ashley Faatoalia, tenor, accompanied by pianist Vivian Liu and more. The Beacon 250 Dance Party begins at 8pm with DJ’s KG Superstar followed by Headliner Silva of 89.9 KCRW on the decks from 9-10pm. Attendees can enjoy Gourmet Food Trucks and a full bar presented by Hello Stranger in the LAUNCH Biergarten. Local Artisan booths are curated LA’s Runway Boutique.
World premier neon light sculptures by David Otis Johnson and visual artist and VJ CLOAKING, who works at the intersection of music and performance, gives sound a physical presence and the park a welcoming glow. Hedy Torres presents her installation Shades of Labor along with Pam Douglas presenting her installation Rise Up! Other interactive art installations and activities will be presented by local arts groups Allied Special Projects, Moments into Form, LAUNCH LA and the Living Canvas Foundation. Creative activities with Museums and Cultural Partners will be presented by the Academy Museum of Motion Pictures, the Petersen Automotive Museum, the Korean Cultural Center, and the Skirball Cultural Center.
