About this workshop:
Carnivorous plants have a reputation for being difficult to grow, but they can actually be quite low maintenance when you know what to do!
In this workshop, Dave Harter will lead us through the basics of carnivorous plants’ often finicky needs. This will include the plants’ special water, soil, and light requirements. We will also go over slightly more intermediate subjects such as winter dormancy and when/how to feed your plant.
Attendees will build and take home their own small bog garden with three carnivorous plants, along with a plant light and everything else you'll need keep them thriving!

About Dave Harter:
Dave Harter (he/him) is the founder and owner of Dave’s Used Plants, a PIttsburgh-based small business that has been popping up at street markets and festivals since 2025. Besides having loads of fun with the absurdity of selling plants under a used car lot aesthetic, Dave genuinely enjoys helping customers succeed in the sometimes tricky world of plant care. Though Dave’s Used Plants sells a variety of houseplants, Dave aims to specialize in carnivorous plants in the coming years, filling an unfortunate carnivorous plant void in the Pittsburgh region. Dave currently lives in Polish Hill with his girlfriend Cheryl, their three cats, and an ever-growing jungle of plants.
