Our 2024 20th Annual PHS and friends Golf fundraiser would like to remember Ricky Poe, a friend to us all that never met a stranger. Ricky was the kind of friend that was full of compassion and was steadfast in his faith, the epitome of godliness and of Christian character. With Ricky’s remembrance in mind all funds of this fundraiser will be benefiting another dear friend, classmate, and annual supporter of this fundraiser Judy “Seale” Dailey.
Judy “Seale” Dailey graduated with the class of 85. She is married and has three grown children and two stepsons. She has been an active participant with the PHS&F Tourney for many years while living in North Texas.
In April of 2023, after 4 years, she was laid off from the job she loved. Since her insurance would soon be ending, she decided to get a full body physical, from mole checks to a colonoscopy (which she’d been avoiding adamantly for 6 years). They found a tumor in her colon, they felt had been growing for 10 years. Surgery immediately followed to remove the diseased portion of her colon, along with 2 cancerous lymph nodes. While in surgery, stage 4 cancer was also found in her liver. 3 months of intense chemo followed that landed her in the ER twice within a month, the second visit was 8 days with her heart in a-fib, high fever, her body in sepsis and e coli. She feels the chemo nearly took her out but in February of 2024, with a PET scan, no evidence of disease was found. Another surgery would follow to remove what looks to be a “dead cancer cell” from her liver and took a few more rounds of chemo to attack any rogue cancer cells that may be “hiding”. Today, she lives a quiet life on a little piece of land in far north Dallas with her fur babies.
