Charleston, WV – The West Virginia Statewide Independent Living Council (WVSILC) along with the West Virginia Independence Network (WIN) will hold multiple listening sessions throughout WV to receive public input for developing the State Plan for Independent Living (SPIL).
The SPIL is a three-year plan for strengthening independent living in West Virginia. Developed by the WV Statewide Independent Living Council (WVSILC) with Centers for Independent Living, also known as the WV Independence Network (WIN), public input, and approved by WV Division of Rehabilitation (WVDRS), the SPIL governs how Federal and State Independent Living Funds will be spent, what services will be provided, how the statewide network of Centers for Independent Living (CILs) will be developed, how the SPIL will be monitored, and how the WVSILC will collaborate with other councils and agencies to improve Independent Living services.
If you are a resident of West Virginia and have a disability or are a family member or a caregiver of a person with a disability, we want to hear from you. Join us and let us know how you believe Independent Living Funds should be used, what services should be provided, and where services should be provided.
There will be a total of four listening sessions: all four will be in person meetings with a virtual meeting on along side of the October 29, 2026, meeting for those who are not able to attend in person. All sessions to attend, but we ask you to please register. All sessions will start at 2:00pm.
Note: If you need interperter, deadline to register for this event is October 26, 2026
