2027 Sadie T.M. Alexander Conference for Economics and Related Fields

The Renaissance Economist: Careers, Capital, and Creativity

For us, it isn't just about credentials. It's about the work. A Renaissance Economist is anyone whose work helps us understand how money, opportunity, and resources move through people's lives and impact our society, no matter how they got there. Some arrive through a PhD in economics. Others arrive through sociology, policy, journalism, or creative writing, bringing the same rigor to the same questions from a different angle.

SACE 2027 brings together students, early-career professionals, researchers, and industry and policy leaders for a full day built around three ideas: Careers, Capital, and Creativity.

What to expect

• "Off the Map: Paths in Economics" panel: candid conversations with leaders who built careers outside a single straight-line track
• "The Global Economist" panel: how to find and access international opportunities in the field
• Career fair: meet employers and organizations looking for emerging talent
• Breakout sessions that give practical insights: workshops on funding your research, setting yourself up for success in the PhD track, and more.
• Research presentations: featuring SACE Research Scholars
• Reception and awards: celebrate research and service to the profession

Who should attend
Undergraduates, graduate students, pre-docs, and early-career and mid-career professionals in economics, public policy, data science, finance, and related fields, as well as employers, funders, and educators who want to connect with emerging talent.
