2027 Ecobots Challenge
The Ecobots Challenge gives students the opportunity to develop coding, engineering, problem solving, and presentation skills. Each participating school may enter one team of 6 to 12 students. Teams can earn up to 1,500 dollars for their school’s STEM program based on robot performance and a presentation of their design process.
IEC will provide the following for all participating teams:
• A challenge map and mission pieces
• A virtual orientation to help teams prepare
• A mentor visit if requested
• T shirts for all participants and medals for the top three teams
• STEAM themed event swag for each student
Local schools are asked to provide a VEX IQ Education Kit (second generation) for their team. Schools that do not have a kit may apply for support through IEC’s Full STEAM Ahead in the Classroom grant.
Important Dates:
• Registration deadline: December 3, 2026
• Virtual orientation: November 5, 2026
• Competition date: February 26, 2027
The Ecobots Challenge is coordinated by the Idaho Environmental Coalition, contractor for the Idaho Cleanup Project under the United States Department of Energy Office of Environmental Management.
